What a call bet is

On a European wheel, numbers that sit side by side on the wheel are scattered across the table. A call bet, or announced bet, covers a whole section of the wheel with a set of splits, streets and corners, placed by the croupier in one go. The four classic ones share the wheel between them.

Where the chips go

  • Neighbours of zero, 9 chips: 2 on the 0-2-3 trio, 2 on the 25-26-28-29 corner, 1 on each of the splits 4/7, 12/15, 18/21, 19/22 and 32/35.
  • Thirds of the wheel, 6 chips: 1 on each of the splits 5/8, 10/11, 13/16, 23/24, 27/30 and 33/36.

Do call bets change the odds?

No. A call bet is only a set of ordinary inside bets, each paid at the usual price, so it carries the same 2.70% house edge as any bet on a European wheel. Since none of them is an even-money bet, La Partage does not apply either.

They exist for convenience and for players who follow the wheel rather than the table. Covering a section of the wheel does not make that section more likely to come out: the ball lands in any of the 37 pockets with the same chance.

What is the best roulette call bet?

None is better: all carry the same 2.70% house edge. They differ in how often they win (45.9% for the neighbours of zero, 18.9% for the zero spiel) and how much.

Can I play call bets on American roulette?

No. They are built on the single-zero wheel order; the American wheel has a different order and a double zero, so tables do not offer them.

How do I place a call bet here?
