How to test a roulette strategy

Choose a system and the bet it plays: red, black, even, odd, 1-18 or 19-36.
Set the base bet, your bankroll and the number of spins in a session.
Add a goal (stop when up by 10% to 100%) and the table maximum, as in a casino.
Run the test, then replay single sessions to see how different two evenings can be.

How to read the results

Look at three numbers together. The share of sessions in profit says how often the system wins an evening. The share of sessions that run out of money says how often it wipes the bankroll. The median session is the typical evening.

Martingale on red with a base bet of 5, a bankroll of 1,000, 100 spins and a table maximum of 500, over 200,000 sessions: 74% of sessions end in profit and the median evening wins 220. Yet 18% run dry, and the average session loses 50. Many small wins, a few very large losses: that is what a system does to the results.

Why no system beats the wheel

Each spin is independent, and every chip on the table carries the house edge, 2.70% on a European wheel. A system decides how much to bet after a win or a loss, never what comes out. It changes the shape of the results, not their average: over a session, you lose on average 2.70% of everything you bet.

The tester uses the same random draw as the game, drawn from your browser’s secure random source, and the same payouts. Run 2,000 sessions a few times: the percentages move by about a point, the conclusion does not.

Why does Martingale win so often?

Because each win recovers every loss before it plus one base bet. It loses rarely but heavily, when a long losing run meets the table maximum or the end of the bankroll.

Why do the results change each time?

Each test plays 2,000 new random sessions. With that many, the percentages move by about a point from one run to the next.
