Odds of each bet
The chance of a bet is the number of pockets it covers divided by the pockets on the wheel. Red covers 18 of 37 on a European wheel: 48.65%. A single number covers 1 of 37: 2.70%. On an American wheel divide by 38 instead.
The house edge
The house edge is the share of each bet the casino keeps on average over many spins. It is 2.70% on a European wheel, 1.35% on even-money bets at a French table with La Partage, and 5.26% on an American wheel. Staking 10 on red for 100 spins costs about 27 on average in Europe and about 53 in America.

Red, black and zero

Every spin starts from zero
The wheel has no memory. After five blacks, red is still 18 of 37. Streaks feel rare, but in an evening of 200 spins a run of seven of the same colour happens about three times in four (74%).
A number can also stay away a long time: in 37 spins, any given number has a 36.3% chance of not appearing at all. In 100 spins it is still 6.5%.
